Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 5, 2026
Last Updated: August 7, 2026

This Privacy Policy describes how Glyph (“Glyph,” “we,” “us,” and “our”) handles personal information in connection with the Glyph mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “Service”).

Glyph helps people identify trading cards and organize collections. We do not sell personal information, share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, or currently use third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs. As described below, we may retain still-image scan material and detected card crops to provide recognition results and improve our recognition systems.

01

Scope

This Privacy Policy applies to personal information handled by Glyph through the Service. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that the Service may link to, including app stores, social platforms, marketplaces, or official card pages. Those services have their own privacy policies and practices.

02

Information We Collect

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address, username, and account credentials. We also process information needed to authenticate you and keep your account signed in.

Collection and portfolio information

We collect and store the information you choose to add to your collection, such as portfolio names, cards, quantities, conditions, favorites, grading details, purchase prices, notes, collection events, and calculated portfolio history. A purchase price is an amount that you choose to record for a card. Glyph does not collect payment-card or bank-account information merely because you record a purchase price.

Information stored on your device

Glyph may store settings and app state on your device, including onboarding status, display preferences, search favorites, and pending collection changes. If you use Glyph without signing in, your local collection remains on your device unless you import it into an account, reset it, clear app storage, or uninstall the app, subject to any device or cloud-backup settings you control.

Service and connection information

When you use the Service, we and providers that help operate it may process basic connection and diagnostic information, such as IP address, request time, requested route, device or browser information, and error or security events. We use this information to provide, secure, diagnose, and maintain the Service. Glyph does not currently use third-party advertising or behavioral-tracking SDKs.

03

Camera, Photo, and Video Scans

Glyph requests camera access only when you choose to scan trading cards. If you choose an item from your photo library, Glyph accesses the image or video you select through your device’s operating-system picker. The scanner does not currently request microphone or precise-location access.

Important scanning notice

For still-image scans, Glyph may retain the full submitted frame, including scans in which no card is detected. A full frame can contain background material around a card. Glyph may also retain detected card crops, recognition metadata, candidate matches, your confirmations or corrections, and related timing and error information. We use this material to provide recognition results, investigate errors, evaluate accuracy, and improve our computer-vision and recognition systems.

For video scans, Glyph processes the submitted video to locate and identify cards. Original uploaded video files are not retained in the still-image review dataset after processing. However, representative card crops and related recognition, match, confirmation, correction, timing, or error data may be retained for the purposes described above.

Scan-training records are not currently keyed to account IDs. Because a submitted still frame may include background material, do not include faces, documents, addresses, computer screens, or other sensitive information in the scan area.

04

How We Use Information

We use personal information to operate the Service, including to create and authenticate accounts, provide account support, identify cards, return likely catalog matches, and create, synchronize, value, and display portfolios and collection history. We also use information to remember preferences, support signed-out use on your device, respond to requests, protect against abuse, troubleshoot failures, maintain reliability, and comply with law or enforce our agreements.

We may use retained scan material to investigate recognition errors, evaluate the accuracy of recognition systems, and improve future card-detection and matching results.

06

How We Disclose Information

Glyph does not sell personal information and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We may disclose personal information in the following limited circumstances:

Card catalog and market information may come from third-party sources. Your private account and collection information is not sent to a marketplace merely because Glyph displays a market link or price.

07

Third-Party Services

The Service may link to third-party websites, app stores, social platforms, marketplaces, or official card pages. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. Glyph is not responsible for the privacy practices of third parties.

08

Data Retention and Deletion

We generally retain account and collection information while your account exists and for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service. When you delete your account, Glyph deletes the account and database records linked to it, including sessions, portfolios, owned-card records, grading data, and linked collection history, subject to the exceptions in this section.

Still frames, detected card crops, and scan-training records currently have no fixed automatic deletion period because they are used as an ongoing recognition-quality dataset. These records are not currently keyed to account IDs and may remain after account deletion. You may request deletion of scan material by contacting us with enough information to help locate it, such as the approximate scan date and card shown.

We may retain information for a longer period when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, legal compliance, or enforcement. Residual copies may remain temporarily in restricted backups until overwritten through normal backup cycles.

09

Your Choices and Privacy Rights

Camera and photo-library access

You can deny or revoke camera and photo-library permissions in your device settings. You can still browse and manage a collection, but scanning and library-upload features will not work without the relevant permission.

Account deletion

You can permanently delete your account in Glyph by opening Settings → Account → Delete account and confirming the deletion. If you cannot access the app, use our account-deletion request page. Do not send your password or authentication token.

Other requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent; or appeal a denied request. Contact us to submit a request. We may need to verify your identity before acting, and applicable law may permit or require exceptions.

10

Cookies and Similar Technologies

The website and supported web features may use essential cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for authentication, security, preferences, and core functionality. Glyph does not currently use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral tracking.

11

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12

Children’s Privacy

Glyph is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Glyph, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where required by applicable law.

13

International Data Transfers

Glyph is operated from the United States. If you use the Service from another country, your personal information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. Those locations may have data-protection laws that differ from the laws in your country.

14

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as Glyph evolves or legal requirements change. We will post the revised version here and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we handle personal information, we will provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
